In the wake of the death of Trayvon Martin on February 12, 2012 in Sanford, a forum will be sponsored by The Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida, the church’s Anti-Racism Committee, Minority Ministries Commission and the Union of Black Episcopalians, at Church of the Holy Cross, Sanford.

In mid-December, The Daughters of the King in Central Florida received an unusual request for help as preparations were underway for the institution of a new chapter in Augsburg, Germany — the first at German churches of the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe (www.tec-europe.org).

The Order of Daughters of the King, Central Florida Chapter, has scheduled a women’s retreat for March 9.

The retreat is set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Canterbury Retreat & Conference Center, 1601 Alafaya Trail, Oviedo, FL 32765

Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, is on the minds and hearts of everyone as we try to "digest" the situation and determine what we might be able to help others. The loss and disaster are much different than our periodic natural disasters: tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods.

Even here in Central Florida, people are in need of counseling because of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings, as well as similar man-made catastrophes closer to home.

A group of Florida volunteers who were in Minot this past week have Hope Village's record so far for coming the longest distance to help with flood recovery.
