Father Ed Bartle, Rector, announces the return of Richard Ryan to St. Edward's just one year after his exciting performance at St. Edward's in Hartridge Hall. This year Richard returns with many new songs first rate - beautiful professional orchestrations and many surprises.
The composers for this years presentation include Richard Rodgers, Cole Porter, Leslie Bricusse, Jerome Kern and, of course, many songs made famous by Al Jolson.
The stage setting will be designed by award winning scenic designer David Clevinger who is the Artistic Director for the Bay Street Players in Eustis. So....the show will be great to look at as well as a great listening experience. Our orchestra is made up of some of the finest musical instrumentalists in the area; namely Ron Green from The Bon-Tempos.
Those who have witnessed Richard's performances know that he comes from an era when performers "got down to business" and will tell you that he will give his audience everything his whole heart, soul, and then some to succeed. From the overture to the last note, Richard will excite those who come to see him.
This event will be a fund-raiser for the future stage shows at St. Edward's including a Christmas Show which will try to emulate past television shows by Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams and others.
In the meantime, Richard is hard at work writing the words and music to a one act musical based on the last hour in the life of Thomas a Becket, Arch Bishop of Canterbury in the 12th Century. He hopes to have it ready to stage in the winter season.
