Please
Note:
People interested in the following opportunities
for education and ministry are encouraged to inform their rector
or priest-in-charge of their interest in these programs.
For those considering a call to the Vocational Diaconate:
The student considering a call to the Vocational Diaconate is
advised to take all of the scriptural and religious courses,
in sequence, for credit. Discernment about this call takes place
on parish and diocesan levels, separate from studies taken at
ICS, The discernment process may take place while the student
is attending ICS, School of Continuing Education.
For those considering a call to licensure as Lay Preacher:
The program for lay preacher preparation involves completion
of a course of study which meets canonical requirements and formal
application to the Bishop; course work takes approximately two
years to complete, and includes the full scriptural curriculum,
most of the religious curriculum, and a number of the specialized
courses.
For those interested in the Walking the Mourner's Path Facilitator
Training Program:
A new ministry with the bereaved has been developed in our diocese!
Individuals who desire to become facilitators in this program
must complete the application process, education and certification
requirements, attend 2 bereavement facilitator sessions and complete
an internship. Interested persons may contact The Rev. Danielle
Morris at All Saints Church, 338 East Lynn Ave., Winter Park,
FL 32789.
For those interested in seminary-level courses:
ICS and Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry are collaborating
to offer a seminary-level course this fall, one which we hope
will be the first of many such courses. Information about these
courses can be obtained by contacting the Dean.
For those called to teach (or how does a volunteer become
a teacher):
Twelve courses for Christian Educators will be offered over a
two year period. The purpose of these courses, offered by the
Christian Education Committee and ICS, is to nourish and support
those who volunteer to teach children or Youth Ministry. A participant
will receive a certificate upon the completion of six courses
and the Child Sexual Abuse Course. The Schedule and description
of courses will be found on page 19 of this catalog. Additional
information can be obtained by calling Linda Rosengren at 647-3413. |
