Ellen K. Lewis is a devoted wife and mother. A stay-at-home mom and student, Ellen has served as a secretary of her DOK chapter, DOK discernment leader, Junior DOK directress, hospitality chair, volunteer parish secretary, vestry clerk, youth formation instructor, women’s Bible study leader, and organizer of special events. Ellen is passionate about lay ministries. Ellen’s husband, Robert, is the rector of the Church of the Advent, Dunnellon.

Ellen and her family recently returned to Central Florida. She spent three years at Nashotah House and then a two year period in the Diocese of Springfield. She is delighted to be able to serve the Diocese of Central Florida as it seeks to promote mission into the next decade.

Identify the greatest challenges/opportunities facing the Diocese of Central Florida:

1) A need to reduce the average age of members through evangelism and youth programs. While it is true that we are largely a diocese of retirees, we must not rest on the false assurance that the church will perpetuate itself. It is always but one generation from extinction.

2) A need to provide tools for parishes and missions to live within their budgets in a time of economic downturn. Many parishes and missions are truly hurting. They need the diocese to continue to lead by example.

3) A need to show the fruits of radical transformation through authentic, biblical Anglicanism. We stand at the edge of a cliff. The only remedy for our situation is Jesus. If we wish to bring the diocese into a new decade of health and stability, we need to be unyielding in our proclamation of the historic faith.
