St. Jude’s Episcopal Church in Orange City has announced its Lent and Easter service schedule for the 2018 season.

Located at 815 E. Graves Ave., St. Jude’s will hold Stations of the Cross at 10 a.m., Wednesdays, throughout Lent. The 2018 Lent season runs Wednesday, Feb. 14, through Thursday, March 29.

At 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, a Seder Meal will be held. Cost is $10, but there is limited seating.

A Seder Meal is essentially related to a “Passover” meal in that Christians honor their Jewish beginnings and that Christ the Lord was a Jew. It recounts how the Jewish people read the Passover story, prayers and ceremonies from the Haggadah, which tells the story from Exodus of when Moses led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and they walked in the desert for 40 years before coming to the Promised Land.

St. Jude’s will hold its Maundy Thursday Service at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 29. As the Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter, Maundy Thursday commemorates the washing of the feet and the Last Supper.

On Friday, March 30, Tenebrae is set for noon, followed by Stations of the Cross at 1 p.m.; and Good Friday Liturgy, 2 and 7 p.m.

An Easter sunrise service then will be held at 6 a.m., Sunday, April 1. Eucharist Rite I will be held at 8 a.m., followed by Eucharist Rite II at 10:30 a.m. An Easter egg hunt for children 10 and under will be held at noon.
