Diocesan Church 2018 Pledge Cards Due by Feb. 9February 1, 2018 • CFE Staff  • DIOCESAN FAMILY • REACHING OUT

The Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida would like to thank all of its churches and ministries for their financial support as we work in God’s good graces.

The Diocese’s continuing commitment to strong ministry would not be possible without the giving from its churches. With the new year upon us, the Diocese has released a letter from Bishop Greg Brewer reminding churches that 2018 pledge forms are due by Friday, Feb. 9:

“Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Thank you for your financial support to the Diocese. As you know, the diocesan pledge helps support your ministry in a myriad of ways.

Below is a link to a pledge form indicating your congregation’s support of the mission and ministry of the Diocese of Central Florida in 2018.

The pledge form also contains a space for you to report your plate and pledge income from 2017. This is included in order to demonstrate compliance with Diocesan Canon XV. Please be sure to provide this information and check to ensure that your parish has sent at least 10% of its plate and pledge income to the Diocese. If you need to write a check for 2017 or any other prior year, please indicate on the check that it is a prior year pledge payment.

I hope you share my enthusiasm for what our Diocese is doing and will join with me in the belief that your pledge is a very important part of our success in the work of the Lord that we do.

Please return the signed pledge form to Earl Pickett at epickett@cfdiocese.org or fax it to 407-872-0006 by Friday, February 09, 2018.”

Grace to you

Gregory O. Brewer Bishop

As stated in Canon XV Section 6 of the Diocesan Canons, parishes should be “contributing the ministry and mission of the Diocese of Central Florida the equivalent of at least 10 percent of the Parish’s plate and pledge income.”

Church staffs also are can send a check for any other prior year as needed, which can be done by noting on the check memo that it is a prior year pledge payment.

Per Resolution R-1 from the 45th Annual Convention on Jan. 24-25, 2014, the Diocesan tithe on congregational pledge income will be directed to the Domestic & Foreign Missionary Society (DFMS) unless a congregation specifies that it wants those monies or a portion thereof to go to Alternative Giving as defined by Diocesan Board.

The pledge card can be assessed through the Diocese’s website link at: https://cfdiocese.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/2018-Diocese-of-Central-Florida-Pledge-Card-Fillable2.pdf on the internet.
