SATURDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE:
Convention passes RESOLUTION R:1 Camp and Conference Center Sunday
Presenters: The Reverends Jonathan Davis and William Yates
Be it resolved: that this 43rd Annual Convention of the Diocese of Central Florida recognizes the high value of the sacred spaces called Camp Wingmann and the Canterbury Retreat and Conference Center and, Be it further resolved: that one Sunday a year, to be determined by the Bishop, be declared Canterbury-Wingmann Sunday with special prayers to be said, offerings taken and designated on their behalf to be divided evenly between the two ministries for their growth and benefit.
MORNING UPDATE:
Bishop Howe's announcements at Convention Eucharist called for the offering to be dedicated to buying mosquito nets for eliminating malaria in East Africa, specifically in the Diocese of Western Tanganyika in Tanzania, where a number of people in the diocese have a variety of long-term associations.
Donations from members of the Diocese of Central Florida has provided thousands these nets over the past four years. The nets not only protect the people using them, but over time they will tend toward the elimination of the disease itself, as they prevent the insect carriers from getting to the blood supply.
