Central Florida Episcopalian: Feature story

Middle school students from across the Diocese enjoyed a life-changing weekend at the New Beginnings event at Camp Wingmann in November. This historic, annual weekend for middle school students and youth leaders was a blast as students learned about the character of God.

In the vernacular of cell phones and text messages, OMG is code for “oh my God.” It is a popular shorthand expression in the world of teens. The New Beginnings weekend focused on exploring God’s ways, God’s character and God’s name. For all who participated, OMG will never be just a phrase, but is now, “Oh. MY God”! Students heard fantastic communicators, interacted in small group discussions and spent a lot of time searching the scriptures.

In addition to the worship and study, students enjoyed the beautiful campus of Camp Wingmann. Field games, water sports and basketball were enjoyed by all! The New Beginnings event, along with Emerge and BCAD combine the programmatic power of Diocesan student ministry with the vital ministry of Camp Wingmann to provide a life changing opportunity for the students and leaders of the diocese and beyond.
